Get to know Laws of Karma, the good acts and bad, evil acts and how it affects you.

Laws of Karma, How Good acts and Bad/Evil acts affects Humans

I see lot of people around the world have the same concern, Why am I subjected to suffering, pain, problems??? The same problems are those the ones that I even saw in Yahoo answers forum, I could only see the same questions asked in one or the other manner, but when I generalize all of them the subject turns out to be "How is Karma acting on me like this?, What Have I done?? Good acts, Bad/Evil acts/ Work Bondage". I am really tired of answering to anyone and everyone whether ever I practically go through...

Its because of "Aahara, Nidra, Bhaya, Mithunamcha", that makes every one suffer and get into bondage.

Without wasting much of the time, lets just get into How Laws of Karma/Work/Action. How Good acts and Bad acts affects one.....

Among the vast ancient Sanskrit writings known as the Vedas, the 108 Upaniṣads contain the philosophical essence. And among all the Upaniṣads, the Īśopaniṣad is considered the foremost. In the following essay, based on the Īśopaniṣad , we learn the truth about the Supreme Lord, the laws governing His material and spiritual energies, and how to break free of the bondage of karma.

The urge to visit sri krishna and srimati radharani

"There is a saying: IF YOU EVER VISIT VRINDAVANA YOU MUST NOT FORGET TO PAY A VISIT TO SRI SRI RADHAVRINDAVANA CHANDRA MANDIR"

GLORIES OF SRI VRINDAVANA and The urge to visit Sri Krishna ad Srimati Radharani

If one visits the holy place of Vrindavana in India located in Matura district of Uttar Pradesh in India one is surely going to submerge in transcendental extacy of devotion towards the supreme personality of godhead sri krishna.

Vrindavana is a place for saints and debotees alike even great personalities like ISKCON Founder Acharya and sole diksha Guru His divne grace A.C. BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI SRILA PRABHUPADA stayed here and went through the deep vedic studies. Even Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu who is the most munificient incranation of supreme personality of godhead sri krishna had come here. This is surely the land of vedic studies an it is as holy as the lord himself.

VRINDAVAN is cosidered to be nom different from Goloka Vrindavana the transendal abode of the supreme personalty of godhead sri krishna in the spiritual word.

SRILA PRABHUPADA once said " Everything in Vrindavana is spiritual".  By this we can understand the importance of Sri Vrindavana.

Sri Vridavana is also called as Brindavana in Bengali language and there is no meaning for why it is called so.

Sri Vrindavana or Vrindaranya is the place were the supreme personality of godhead sri krishna revealedbhis childhood pastimes, there he walked, there he lived, ther he stayed, there he ate, there he danced, there he sang, there he slept, there he mate, there he fought the demons and aetheists, there he lifted the Govardana hill to protect his devotees. Its much more to say than what can be written. No one in thus mortal or material world can decribe the glories of Vrindavana.

One should note that Vrindavana is also known as Vraja or Braja or Vrajabhumi or Brajabhumi.

The people of Vrindavana are naturally devoted to supreme personality of godhead sri krishna, they worship, they love him. It was here that supreme personality of godhead sri krishna's consort srimati radharani appeared and performed many wonderfull pastime cherished by millions of devotees worldwide till today.

Sri Vrindavana is filled with many lakes or kundas, trees, flowers, birds. One can also find many pastime places of the supreme personality of godhead sri krishna still existing there.

IT is most apporiate to call Vrindavana as Sri Vrindavana with all respects submitted to the place as Sri Vrindavana Dham.

HIS Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada instituted ISKCON a temple of worship for the supreme perzonality of Godhead Sri Krishna and His beloved Consort Srimayi Radharani. One can find many devotees here in Vrindavana chanting and performing Hari Nama Sankirtana or Hare Krishna Sankirtana in troops here. It was desire of Srila Bhaktisiddanata Sarawati Takura the Spiritual Master of His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada to spread to message of Godhead to the west and this was envisioned by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabu or Sri Gauranga or Sri Nimai Pandita 500 years back "That the holy name of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna will reach the entire world and in every village and city". This was done by Srila Prabhuapada and is stil carried out anf followed by his bonafide followers under the guidelines he setup still now.

I can go on and on wrijngghe glories ad mahatmya of Sri Vrindavana Dham but I want to keep it short.

Lastly what I would like you to do if you ever get an opportunity to visit Sri Vrindavana Dham is "TO VISIT SRI SRI RADHA VRINDAVANA CHANDRA MANDIR" wihout fail.

It is at this temple or holy place you will surely find all the bonafide details about Vrindavana.

THATS IT!

Hare Krishna

The Market Place of the Holy Name

Posted: 05 Feb 2012 05:20 AM PST

Sri Nagar Kirtana
The Market Place of the Holy Name
By Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur

nadiya-godrume nityananda mahajana
patiyache nam-hatta jivera karana

Nityananda Mahajana so mercifully opened a marketplace in Nadiya-Godruma for the welfare of the suffering souls. In that market place only the Holy Name is traded.

(sraddhavan jana he, sraddhavan jana he)
prabhura ajnay, bhai, magi ei bhiksha
bolo krsna, bhajo krsna, koro krsna-shiksa

What is the price? sraddhavana jana he! sraddhavana jana he! Those who have faith in the Holy Name and faith in the words of sadhu, sastra, guru. This is the price! Faith! Only those persons are allowed to enter that marketplace. They can buy and sell the Holy Name. Sri Nityananda Prabhu requests the faithful persons, those who have developed faith in the Holy Name, to come and take it! Sri Nityananda Prabhu says, ‘This is the order of My Lord! My Prabhu! My Master! Therefore I have come to your doorstep, 0 brother! I am a beggar! I beg for these alms. ‘Utter the name of Krsna! Do krsna-bhajana! Accept what Krishna has taught us!’ These are the alms I am begging from you.

aparadha-shunya ho ‘ye leha krsna-nama
krsna mata, krsna pita, krsna dhana-prana

Chant this Holy Name without offense. Chant the pure Name of Sri Krishna. Sri Krishna is Mother, Sri Krishna is Father, Sri Krishna is wealth and asset. Sri Krishna is the Lord of my heart, Sri Krishna is life and soul, Krishna is everything.

krsnera samsara koro chadi anacara
jive doya, krsna-nama-sarva-dharma-ssra

Give up all your bad dealings, habits, and behavior and enter into krsna-samsara. The only relationship is with Sri Krishna, establish yourself in that relationship. Shower mercy on all the jivas seeing them as Sri Krishna’s and completely surrender unto the Holy Name of Sri Krishna. This is the essence of all dharma.

The Lotus Feet of Lord Nityananda

Posted: 05 Feb 2012 05:02 AM PST

Nitai-Pada-Kamala
The Lotus Feet of Lord Nityananda
By Srila Narottama dasa Thakura
Purport By His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

nitai-pada-kamala, koti-chandra-susitala,
je chayay jagatu juray
heno nitai bine bhai, radha-krsna paite nai,
dridha kori’ dharo nitair pay

The lotus feet of Sri Nityananda are as cool as millions of moons. The whole universe gets peace by the shade of those lotus feet. Without the mercy of Sri Nityananda, nobody can get Radha and Krishna, the aim of human life. Therefore, catch hold of the two lotus feet of Sri Nityananda Prabhu very tightly.

se sambandha nahi ja’r, britha janma gelo ta’r,
se pashu bodo durachara
nitai na bolilo mukhe, majilo samsara-sukhe,
vidya-kule ki koribe tara

One who has not established a relationship with Sri Nityananda is a two-legged animal. A great beast! His whole life is finished. He cannot be called a human being. He never utters the name of Sri Nityananda. He is always immersed in enjoying material happiness and has forgotten Sri Nitai. He may have acquired all material scholarship and learning, but what is the value of such education? This will never help.

ahankare matta hoiya, nitai-pada pasariya,
asatyere satya kori mani
nitaiyer karuna habe, braje radha-krsna pabe,
dharo nitai-charana du’khani

They are so puffed up with their mundane education and scholarship. They are never humble at all. They have forgotten the lotus feet of Sri Nitai because of their false ego and pride. They are completely under the clutches of Maya. They accept the untruth as truth. If Sri Nityananda showers His mercy upon someone, he will get Sri Sri Radha Krishna in Vrajabhumi. So catch hold of the two lotus feet of Lord Nityananda very tightly.

nitaiyer carana satya, tanhara sevaka nitya,
nitai-pada sada koro asha
narottama bodo dukhi, nitai more koro sukhi,
rakho ranga-charanera pasha

The lotus feet of Sri Nityananda are eternally true. And those followers or servants of those lotus feet of Sri Nityananda are also eternal. Always aspire for the lotus feet of Sri Nityananda. Srila Narottama dasa Thakura says, “I am very distressed, and an unhappy person. I am drowning in this dreadful ocean of material existence. O Sri Nityananda Prabhu, please make me very happy! Please keep me at Your lotus feet.”

Purport by Srila Prabhupada

Nitai-Pada-Kamala & Purport Los Angeles, January 31, 1969

nitai-pada-kamala, koti-candra-susitala,
je chaayay jagata juraay
heno nitai bine bhaai, radha-krishna paite naai,
drdha kori’ dharo nitair paay

se sambandha naahi ja’r, brthaa janma gelo taa’r,
sei pasu boro duraacaar
nitai naa bolilo mukhe, majilo samsaara-sukhe,
vidyaa-kule ki koribe taar

ahankaare matta hoiya, nitai-pada pasariyaa,
asatyere satya kori maani
nitaiyer korunaa habe, braje radha-krishna paabe,
dharo nitai-carana du’khaani

nitaiyer carana satya, taanhara sevaka nitya,
nitai-pada sadaa koro aasa
narotam boro dukhi, nitai more koro sukhi,
raakho raanga-caranera paasa

Nitai-pada-kamala, koti-candra-susitala, je chayay jagata juray. This is a song by Narottam das Thakur, a great acharya of the Gaudiya-vaisnava-sampradaya. He has written many songs about the Vaisnava philosophy, and they are approved as completely corresponding with Vedic instructions. So here Narottam das Thakur is singing that “The whole world is suffering under the blazing fire of material existence. Therefore, if one takes the shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda…,” whose birthday is today, 31st, January, 1969. So we should relish this instruction of Narottam das Thakur that in order to get relief from the pangs of blazing fire of this material existence, one should take shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Nityananda because it is as cooling as the moon rays combined together of millions of moons. That means one will immediately find peaceful atmosphere. Just like a man works whole day and if he comes under the moonshine he feels relief.

Similarly, any materialistic man who comes under the shelter of Lord Nityananda will immediately feel that relief. Then he says,

nitai-pada-kamala, koti-candra-susitala,
je chayay jagata juray,
heno nitai bine bhai, radha-krishna paite nai,
dharo nitai-carana du’khani

He says that “If you are anxious to go back to home, back to Godhead, and become associate of Radha and Krishna, then the best policy is to take shelter of Nityananda.” Then he says, se sambandha nahi ja’r, brtha janma gelo ta’r: “One who has not been able to contact Nityananda, then one should think of himself that he has simply spoiled his valuable life.” Brtha janma gelo, brtha means for nothing, and janma means life. Gelo ta’r, spoiled. Because he has not made connection with Nityananda. The Nityananda, very name, suggests… Nitya means eternal. Ananda means pleasure. Material pleasure is not eternal. That is the distinction. Therefore those who are intelligent, they are not interested with this flickering pleasure of material world. Every one of us, as living entity, we are searching after pleasure. But the pleasure which we are seeking, that is flickering, temporary. That is not pleasure. Real pleasure is nityananda, eternal pleasure. So anyone who has no contact with Nityananda, it is to be understood that his life is spoiled.

se sambandha nahi ja’r, brtha janma gelo ta’r,
sei pasu boro duracar

Narottam das Thakur uses here very harsh word. He says that such human being is an animal, an uncontrollable animal. As there are some animals that cannot be tamed, so anyone who has not contacted Nityananda, he should be considered as an untamed animal. Sei pasu boro duracar. Why? Because nitai na bolilo mukhe: “He never uttered the holy name of Nityananda.” And majilo samsara-sukhe, “and become merged into this material happiness.” Vidya-kule ki koribe tar. “That nonsense does not know that what will his education and family and tradition and nationality will help him?” These things cannot help him. These are all temporary things. Simply, if we want eternal pleasure, we must contact Nityananda. Vidya-kule ki koribe tar. Vidya means education, and kula means family, nationality. So we may have a very nice family connection or we may have very nice national prestige, but after ending this body, these things will not help me. I’ll carry my work with me, and according to that work, I shall have to accept by force another type of body. It may be something other than human body. So these things cannot protect us or give us the real pleasure. So Narottam das Thakur advises that vidya-kule ki koribe tar. Then he says, ahankare matta hoiya. “Being maddened after false prestige and identification…” False identification with the body and prestige of bodily relationship, it is called ahankare matta hoiya. One is mad after this false prestige. Ahankare matta hoiya, nitai-pada pasariya. Due to this false prestige we are thinking, “Oh, what is Nityananda? What can He do for me? I don’t care.” So these are the signs of false prestige. Ahankare matta hoiya, nitai-pada pasa…, asatyere satya kori mani. The result is that I am accepting something which is false. For example, I am accepting this body. This body, I am not this body. Therefore, with false identification I am becoming entangled more and more. So one who is puffed up with this false prestige, ahankare matta hoiya, nitai-pada pa…, asatyere satya kori mani, he accepts something wrong as right. Then he says, nitaiyer koruna habe, braje radha-krishna pabe. If you are actually serious about going back to home, back to Godhead, then please seek after the mercy of Nityananda. Ahankare…

nitaiyer koruna habe, braja radha-krishna pabe,
dharo nitai-carana du’khani

“Please catch up the lotus feet of Nityananda.” Then he says, nitaiyer carana satya. One may think that as we catch hold of so many shelter, but in this material world later on they prove false, similarly, suppose we catch hold of the lotus feet of Nityananda; it may also prove false. But Narottam das Thakur assures that nitaiyer carana satya: “It is not false. Because Nityananda is eternal, His lotus feet is also eternal.” Tanhara sevaka nitya. And anyone who takes to the service of Nityananda, they also become eternal. Without being eternal, nobody can serve the eternal. That is the Vedic injunction. Without becoming Brahman, one cannot approach the Supreme Brahman. Just like without being fire, nobody can enter into the fire. Without being water, nobody can enter into the water. Similarly, without being fully spiritualized, nobody can enter into the spiritual kingdom. So nitaiyer carana satya. If you catch nitaiyer, the lotus feet of Nityananda, then you become immediately spiritualized. Just like if you touch electricity, immediately you become electrified. That is natural. Similarly, Nityananda is eternal happiness, if you touch Nityananda some way or other, then you become also eternally happy. Tanhara sevaka nitya. Therefore one who has in contact with Nityananda, they have become eternal.

nitaiyer carana satya, tanhara sevaka nitya,
drdha kori’ dharo nitair paay

So just catch Him very tightly. Narottam boro duhkhi, nitai more koro sukhi. At the last Narottam das Thakur, the composer of this song, he is appealing to Nityananda, “My dear Lord, I am very unhappy. So You please make me happy. And You kindly keep me in corner of Your lotus feet.” That is the sum and substance of this song. (end)

Sri Rupa Goswami

Sri Rupa Goswami
By Gauridasa Pandita Prabhu

Today is the disapperance day of Sri Rupa Goswami and Gauridasa Pandita

Sri Rupa Goswami

Gaudiya Vaisnava’s, Devotees today and in the future are known as Rupanugas, followers of Sri Rupa Gosvami. Every devotee should aspire to become a servant of the servant of the lotus feet of Sri Rupa Gosvami. Sri Narottama Dasa Thakura sings, sri-rupa-manjari-pada, se more sampada, sei mor bhajana pujana: “The feet of Sri Rupa-manjari (Rupa Gosvami’s eternal form as Sri Radha’s maidservant in Vraja) are my only wealth. They are the only object of my service and worship.”

Srila Rupa Goswami was an incarnation of Rupa Manjari, the most important of the eight confidential maidservants of Srimati Radharani in the spiritual world. It is said that without taking shelter of Srila Rupa Goswami one cannot enter into the pastimes of Lord Chaitanya, and without taking shelter of Rupa Manjari one cannot enter into the confidential loving pastimes of Sri Sri Radha and Krishna.

In 1517 Sri Rupa Gosvami and Sri Sanatana Gosvami, his elder brother went to Vrindavan to fulfill four orders of Lord Caitanya: (1) To uncover Sri Krishna’s lost pastime places. (2) To install Deities establishing first class puja. (3) To write bhakti-sastras. (4) To propagate the science of Bhakti Yoga.

Sri Rupa Gosvami lived a mendicant’s life absorbed in hearing, chanting and writing about Sri Sri Radha-Govinda’s sweet loving pastimes in Sri Vrindavan Dham.

Sri Rupa Gosvami wrote many profound yet practical transcendental books. He established Sri-Sri Radha-Govindaji, the beloved Deities of the entire Gaudiya sampradaya. Through extensive Vedic research Sri Rupa Gosvami proved that Sri Caitanya’s teachings present the highest philosophy and the perfection of religion.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu asked Sri Rupa Gosvami to write books on the science of Krsna Consciousness. In the Caitanya-candrodaya, Sri Kavi Karnapura says that Sri Rupa Gosvami is the form of true love and devotion. Sri Caitanya empowered him to explain His own love and devotion, and to propagate it to the world. Lord Caitanya manifested His own pastimes through Sri Rupa Gosvami. He received the title bhakti-rasacarya (guru of devotional mellows) for his devotional classics, Bhakti-Rasamrta Sindhu, which Swami Srila Prabhupada translated and commented on in his famous book, The Nectar of Devotion, and others. Bhakti-Rasamrta Sindhu gives the essence of all Vedic scriptures regarding the kingdom of bhakti. It explains how to advance in Krishna consciousness and attain Krsna Prema, pure unalloyed love for Our Sweet Lord.

To understand the loving affairs of Radha and Krishna, Narottama Dasa Thakura says you must serve the lotus feet of Sri Rupa Gosvami with intense eagerness. Serving means hearing, chanting and following the teachings of Sri Rupa Gosvami as explained to us by Swami Srila Prabhupada. Serving also means praying to, crying out to, meditating upon, and dedicating your entire life to the lotus feet of Sri Rupa Gosvami (Sri Rupa-manjari). Sadhana Dipika states that those on the path of devotional service must always associate with Sri Rupa Gosvami’s doctrines on prema-bhakti. By the grace of Sri Jiva Gosvami and Swami Srila Prabhupada we can understand the transcendental truths of Rupa Gosvami’s teachings.

The following quote shows the incredible potency of Sri Rupa Gosvami’s transcendental writing:

When Sri Rupa Gosvami would sit in his bhajana kutir at Ter Kadamba and write about the separation that Sri Radha and Sri Krishna felt for one another the leaves of the Kadamba tree would fall down. When Sri Rupa wrote about Radha and Krishna’s ecstatic loving reunion, that overjoyed Kadamba tree immediately sprouted new leaves and blossomed flowers. By the mercy of a pure Vaisnava like Srila Rupa Gosvami this Kadamba tree could understand and appreciate the intimate and confidential subject matters of Sri Sri Radha Krsna Prema.

Sri Rupa Gosvami established the Deities of Radha-Govinda in Vrindavan. Bhakti-ratnakar quotes one song from Srinivasa Acarya to describe the beauty of Rupa Gosvami’s beloved Sri Govindaji Deity: “Having seen the incomparable beauty of Sri Govinda, Sri Radhika begins describing it to Her sakhis: ‘Who has sculptured that moon-like face and who has sculptured those two lotus eyes? Only My heart knows how I feel when I see Him. Who has shaped His earrings, cut carefully in gems? My mind is fixed on them. His nose pearl surrounded by a golden ring looks like a moon-like white flower surrounded by lightning, smiling from behind some blue clouds.

‘His forehead is decorated with sandalwood and tilaka and beautiful mind-enchanting designs. He shines within My heart. Yet My heart aches being incapable of beholding His beautiful face to My full satisfaction. If God had given Me the power I could continual ly enjoy His sweet voice. His arms are stronger than the trunks of elephants. I long for the touch of His fingers. His graceful movements rival the gait of a maddened elephant. He is an ocean of beauty.’”

Today in Jaipur, Rajasthan Sri Rupa Gosvami’s original Deities of Radha-Govindaji are forever expanding their unlimited beauty. Every day 10,000 devotees attend Their mangala arotika. A prati-bhu Deity of Govindaji resides in the “new” Govindaji temple behind the historic masterpiece of architecture that once served Radha-Govinda in Vrindavan.

Sri Krishna Dasa Kaviraja says the Deity of Radha-Govindaji shows us how to worship Radha and Krishna. Radha-Govindaji accepts our service and gives us inspiration to increase our surrender on the path of bhakti. Acting as our siksa-guru, Sri Govindaji directs us and gives us opportunities to serve Him.

Some authorities claim that in 1564 Sri Rupa Gosvami entered Radha-Govindaji’s nitya-lila, just twenty-seven days after the disappearance of Sri Sanatana Gosvami. Sri Rupa Gosvami’s samadhi and bhajana kutir are in Seva Kunja within the courtyard of the Radha-Damodara temple. Sri Rupa Gosvami’s samadhi is on the front cover.

Srila Rupa Goswami entered samadhi in the year 1564 and his sacred body was entombed at this very site by his beloved disciple and nephew Jiva Goswami. Through his writings Srila Rupa Goswami chalked out the perfect spiritual path for all the followers of Lord Chaitanya down through the ages. Swami Srila Prabhupada has put into English in all his many books the nectar knowledge of Sri Rupa Goswami and all the great guru acharya’s in our Gaudiya Sampradaya Disciplic succession.

Rupa Goswami first met Lord Chaitanya at Ramakeli in 1514, and along with his brothers Sanatana and Anupama, completely surrendered to the lotus feet of the Lord. At that time all three brothers were employed as important ministers in the Mohammedan government of Bengal under Hussain Shah. Lord Chaitanya assured them that since they had surrendered to Krishna, they would soon be delivered and would be able to join the Sankirtan movement.

It was Rupa Goswami who more than anyone else, firmly established the Sankirtan Movement of Lord Chaitanya. He wrote a large number of important books on the science of bhakti-yoga and after the disappearance of Lord Chaitanya in 1534, Rupa Goswami became the leader of all the Gaudiya Vaisnavas in the world. After teaching Rupa all the important aspects of devotional service, the Lord sent him to Vrindavan to compile books on these very teachings.

After spending some time in Vrindavan, Sri Rupa and Sanatan left to visit Lord Chaitanya in Puri. On his way to Puri, Rupa Goswami started to write a drama about Lord Krishna’s pastimes in Vrindavan and Dwaraka. On arrival at a village named Satyabhamapur in Orissa, he had a dream that a beautiful woman appeared before him and asked him to write a separate drama about her. When Rupa awoke the next morning he realized that she was Lord Krishna’s most possessive queen, Satyabhama, and decided to write a separate drama about Dwaraka. On Rupa’s arrival at Jagganatha Puri, he met Lord Chaitanya and showed the Lord the outline of his two dramas. The Lord confirmed that writing two dramas mixing the lilas of Vrindavan and Dwaraka was not proper as their was a vast difference between them. In Vrindavan the Lord enjoys the madhurya-rasa, where as in Dwaraka He enjoys the Swakiya-rasa. Lord Chaitanya as well as Ramananda Raya were delighted to read the early drafts of these two dramas, which were eventually called Vidagdha Madhava and Lalita Madhava respectively. These two works are considered by Gaudiya Vaisnavas to be the most important dramatic literatures in the Sanskrit language. Rupa Goswami stayed ten months in Puri and received further instructions on devotional service from Lord Chaitanya. The Lord then asked Rupa to proceed to Vrindavan and complete the task of rediscovering the lost holy places of Lord Krishna’s pastimes. On returning to Vrindavana, Rupa Goswami discovered at Brahma Kunda the Deity of Vrindadevi, from who the town of Vrindavan takes its name, this Deity was later moved to Kamyavana.

Rupa Goswami also discovered the famous Govindaji Deity and immediately established Lord Govindaji’s worship on a grand scale. On hearing the good news of Rupa’s progress, Lord Chaitanya sent some of his best men to assist Rupa Goswami in serving the Deity of Govindaji and establishing the Lord’s mission in Vrindavan. Rupa and Sanatana Goswami’s were joined by Ragunatha dasa Goswami, Gopal Bhatta Goswami, Raghunatha Bhatta Goswami and Srila Jiva Goswami. These great personalities become famous as the six Goswamis of Vrindavan. Jiva Goswami, who was the son of Rupa’s brother Anupama, became the most important disciple of Rupa Goswami.

All glories to Sri Rupa Goswami and all six Goswami’s of Vrindavan!

All glories to our Jagat guru Swami Srila Prabhupada who brought Vrindavan and the six Goswami’s to the world!

Hoping this meets you well and Happy in Krsna Consciousness

Remembering Srila Prabhupada

Remembering Srila Prabhupada
By Vyasasana das

I think we all remember very clearly where we were and what we were doing the day Srila Prabhupada first entered our lives.  Many of the older devotees remember where they were when President John F. Kennedy was shot, or where they were when "The Beatles" appeared on the Ed Sullivan show.  But our remembrance of Srila Prabhupada will outlive any mundane event in our lives, as our relationship with our Srila Prabhupada is an eternal relationship.

I meet my spiritual master in an unlikely place, in the Chicago O'Hare airport.  I was walking through the airport just wandering aimlessly, when I was approached by a sankirtan devotee.  He said "hey, you into George Harrison?"  I replied "sure I just saw him in concert last night".  So he said, "take this book and give it a read, its really far-out!"   To make a long story short I took the book, the Krishna Book, and found a place to sit down and read.  I couldn't even make out some of the words it was like a foreign language.  I couldn't even pronounce some of the words like Srila Vyasadeva or Srimati Radharani.  I didn't have a clue what the book was about.  But I fell in love with the picture on the cover instantly, and when I turned the book over in my hands I saw the most beautiful sight in this material world, a picture of my spiritual master Srila Prabhupada.

I had been thinking lately that I needed to find my guru, as I had been doing a lot of reading on spirituality and had a pile of books on Eastern Wisdom, Hinduism, and Buddhism etc.  And had come to the conclusion that I needed to find my Guru.  I had no idea where to find him?  Do I go to India?  I didn't have a clue where to go or who to ask.  But the mercy of the spiritual master is unfathomable, and he came to me, through the kindness and compassion of his disciple, in the form of the Krishna Book.

The love I felt for the picture of Srila Praphupada was deep and profound.  I had never before experienced such a deep loving sentiment as I was experiencing when looking at the picture of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada.  I was in love as if for the first time.  I recognized Srila Prabhupada as my Guru.  And I began to associate with him directly through his picture and his words.  In one fell swoop I meet my Guru and by his mercy I meet God.

"By the mercy of the spiritual master one receives the benediction of Krishna.  Without the grace of the spiritual mast, one cannot make any advancement.  Therefore I should always remember and praise the spiritual master.  At least three times a day I should offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of my spiritual master"  (Sri-Sri-Gurv-Astaka)

From this one encounter of meeting one of Srila Prabhupada's disciples, my spiritual life began.  All Glories to the Sankirtan Movement of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu!  And from there I went on to receive (again by chance) a Bhagavad-Gita "As it Is" and some smaller paperback books.  By this time I was associating directly with Srila Prabhupada because I was following his instructions and chanting the Hare Krishna maha mantra.  In this way my heart became purified and within the next few years I joined the society of devotees, shaved my head, put on tilak and interestingly became a book distributor on the Radha Damadora Traveling Sankirtan Party.  Giving to others what was given to me; Srila Prabhupada & Krishna!

It was years after receiving my first book and hearing from my eternal spiritual master Srila Prabhupada that I finally got a chance to meet him personally, in his physical form, and I enjoyed walking alongside him on a morning japa walk, hearing him speak Bhagavatam, and watching him dance at the Rathayatra festival.  But for me, the turning point in my life, when my association with my eternal spiritual master began, was at the Chicago O'Hara airport, in the form of the KRSNA Book.

I am eternally grateful to that book distributor (I don't even remember his name), for introducing me to His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, and helping me on my journey Back Home, Back to Godhead.
